Bodrum

Steeped in history the city of Bodrum has stood on this site for thousands of years and is documented in the history books as the ancient city of Halicarnassus.
One of the seven wonders of the world, the Mausoleum stands here as does an ancient ampitheatre in which live concerts are still held. Having said this, Bodrum today is a vibrant modern city dominated by the Castle of St Peter which overlooks two horseshoe shaped bays and the bustling marina.
Todays harbour is full of traditional gulets offering cruises, diving and day trips around the peninsula as well as ferries and hyrdrofoils to the Greek islands of Kos and Rhodes. The yacht club and marina are well equipped to deal with the host of private boats and gulets the harbour welcomes as are the many harbourside restaurants and cafes.
In the other direction, the narrow streets behind the seafront offer fabulous traditional crafts from carpets to turkish delight with traditional patisseries and butchers nestling between the gift and mobile phone shops. The fabulous fruit and vegetable market alternates with a textile and clothes market above the central dolmus park, from where you can get a bus to anywhere!
In the summer months the hot bustling streets of Bodrum are best saved to the evening, when you have a chance to sample the many world class restaurants tucked away in back streets and as well as those on the beachfront. After dinner there is time to shop as most shops are open until midnight or to visit one of Bodrum's many waterfront bars or even its famous floating night club - Club Bodrum.
Whether you are looking for relaxation, culture, beaches or nightlife, there is so much to do in bodrum, I am sure that like us, you will be lured back again and again.
